HOW TO MAKE THE WORLD’S BEST BODY BUTTER

I have just started testing out different recipes to make my own skin/hair products and I was hoping to find the perfect combination so I could make something for my mom for Christmas. This looks perfect and so pretty!

I love creamy body butters. Living in a climate that gets quite cold and dry in the winter, they are a must in my house. But two things have always bothered me. They can be quite expensive and also, full of ingredients that are less than desirable for your skin and health. bodybutterbest-250x498

  • 1 cup organic raw shea butter

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil

  • 1/2 cup almond oil

Splattered Nails

No need for a steady hand for this manicure which can impossibly go wrong. After applying a base color, dip a very thin straw into a different color of nail polish for the splatters. Aim for your nails and blow through the straw! Afterwards, remove the splatterings around your nails with a q-tip and some nail polish remover and you're done!loveaestheticssplatternails3

DIY ANTI WRINKLE EYE STICK

This is a simple recipe..You could substitute any oil for coconut oil……olive oil, jojoba, etc. You could just use all Meadowfoam as well. It’s a nice light oil that does wonders for delicate skin!

Once you hit mid 30's it's time to use an eye cream.  To be honest, I have never felt the need to use and eye cream.  Now, I have the need.  Fine lines have made a home around my eyes, not to mention puffiness and dark circles.  Blame it on the kids, not enough water, bad eating habits, age-whatever it is, it's time to replenish and nourish that delicate skin and prevent future lines from cropping up too prematurely!eye-stick

HOW TO MAKE SOLID PERFUME STICKS

Every time there is a new bundle sale, I go crazy making natural body care products, new recipes, and home remedies. I just can’t help it. I love that so many resources are available  that clearly explain how to do these things at home. It’s wonderful.

I know they look like lip balm! But instead they a scented sticks you can carry around and apply at any time. They are scented with essential oils, making these perfume sticks all-natural. Woo-hoo!solid-perfume-sticks

Ingredients

2 tablespoons sweet almond oil
1 tablespooon apricot kernal oil
1/4 cup beeswax pastilles
3/4 teaspoon essential oil (like lavender or sweet orange)

Metal Chips on White Nails

Today I did this silver chipped manicure with a couple of left over bits of metallic nail foil.
These nail wraps come in packages that contain 12 foils, two too many. I finally figured out what to do with the spare foils I still had lying around. I covered parts of my nails with asymmetrically cut bits of foil to make a geometric transition between the metallic silver and the white matte painted nails.loveaestheticssilverchippednails

Double Parted Ponytail

Seen double partings on a lot of runways; Gianfranco Ferre, Ann Demeulemeester and recently also at Barbara Langendijk among others. (Also looks fantastic with dark hair) But never have I come across someone on the streets with two partings like this. So I thought I'd give it a try as a variation on my usual middle parting with low ponytail. Loving how easy it is to get this graphic symmetric look.

how to:two hair ties ,comb, bit of gel or hair spray.  Find the center of your hairline and from there make two diagonal partings. Now you've created a triangle of hair on the top of your head, pin this up into a little bun.Comb the rest of the hair downwards into a sleek, low ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. Take out the little bun and comb this top section of hair backwards and secure it with another tie over the existing ponytail.

Rose Gold Nail Piercing

A manicure that is on the edge of bad taste and tackiness.
But I think that one single rose gold ring per hand through a white nail looks pretty badass.
This gives me so many high school flashbacks.
One tiny piercing on its own is cool enough, so I don't even bother putting on any more jewelry around my wrists or fingers. 51f333b081901How to get the hole through your nail:
Lay your hand on a flat surface with your palm facing up, and from the back of your nail carefully 'screw' the pin through with a bit of pressure. If you keep turning the pin between your index finger and thumb you'll get a hole after a minute or two. Be careful not to poke it through as it can cause cracks in your nail. Then put a tiny ring through it, which you can get at any shop where they sell jewelry parts and beads, I got my rose gold rings at Beadies Amsterdam.

Smokey Eye Technique

This is the easiest smokey eye technique out there and is a great starting point for makeup beginners..Be creative and mix up color combinations for wild and vibrant looks, and always remember have fun and do what suits you!Smokey-Eye-TechniqueYou’ll need:
A black or black/brown eyeliner pencil (something that has a smooth enough consistency to be blended easily)

An eyeshadow application brush
Tan or any natural toned eyeshadow to use as the base color for the lid

White Willow Bark Anti-Acne Toner

I’ve had my eye on some white willow bark for ages, due to its anti-acne properties thanks to its salicin content (grandfather to salicylic acid). You’ve probably seen store bought anti-acne products bragging that they “contain salicylic acid!”, and white willow bark is a great natural source of it. White willow bark is also anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal. It helps reduce redness and inflammation, and encourages healing, and I can’t believe I’ve never worked with it before.DSC_0159

1 tbsp white willow bark
70g boiling water

50g witch hazel

10 drops essential oil(s) of choice (anti-acne choices include tea tree, lavender, benzoin, and black pepper)
Equal volume of solubilizer

Gingerbread Lip Balm

Gingerbread lip balm is a bit different than straight-up normal lip balm as it requires me to incorporate something water soluble (the blackstrap molasses & glycerin) into something that is typically entirely oil based. All this requires is a healthy dose of whisking as the glycerin emulsifies the blackstrap molasses and oils together.13-12-02-pic08
3g beeswax
3g virgin coconut oil
4g raw cocoa butter
5g sweet almond oil
5 drops vitamin E oil

1g vegetable glycerin
3g blackstrap molasses

3 drops liquid carmine dye (optional—you can also use a pinch of red iron oxide)

3 drops cinnamon essential oil
2 drops ginger essential oil
3 drops vanilla essential oil

TRIED + TRUE: FLYAWAY TRICK HAIR

Flyaways can be a real buzzkill. You get this gorgeous blowout but then you have a crown of tiny hairs that aren’t quite heavy enough to stay where you want them. Sometimes those hairs can be caused from breakage and sometimes they’re simply new sprouts. Either way there’s a professional trick that will help hide that halo. Here’s how it’s done…51e51d874b5da

  • Make sure you have the nozzle on your blowdryer.

  • Pick up a “slice” of hair on one side of your part and put it flat in between your fingers.

  • With your fingers parallel to your part, pull the slice of hair upward.

  • Now blow those short hairs THROUGH the long hairs that you’re holding. (See image above)

Once the short hairs are pushed through the long hair, the longer heavier hairs will then lay on top of the shorter hairs and weigh them down. If they sneak back through later in the day, they won’t stick straight up.

  • Once you’ve tucked the short hairs under, repeat on the other side and the back if neccessary.

  • Add a thin veil of hairspray.

Mocha Smokey Eye Makeup

Mocha-Smokey-Eye-Makeup

If you like earthy colors, or brown shadow then a mocha smokey eye might be something you’d like to try. Always remember to start with clean lids with freshly applied primer.

For this smokey eye you’ll need a creamy, golden or even caramel colored eyeshadow for the base color of the lid, and a deep dark brown and also a black eyeshadow for the crease area of your lids. You’ll also need a few different shadow brushes for this look as well. You’ll need an eyeshadow application brush, a “C” brush, and a blending brush. To start, use your application brush to apply the caramel colored base shadow to the entire area of your eyelid below the crease line. Then, use the “C” brush to apply the dark brown shadow to your crease line. Dab a few layers of the dark shadow into the crease and then use the blending brush to blend the darker shadow in smooth, sweeping back and forth motions. The concept of blending is to eliminate the line of distinction between the two eyeshadow colors, so take care to try and achieve that when blending. Once you’ve blended, add some of the black shadow into only the outer corners of the crease to dramatize the look a bit more. Blend if needed.

KITCHEN BEAUTICIAN

Castor oil is one of the best kept secrets in the world of natural beauty.  Taken from the bean of the Castor plant, this oil is rich in ricinoleic acid (omega-9 fatty acid), which exerts powerful therapeutic effects. It will help your eyelashes to grow thick and long, and can keep them from breaking. It can also help you grow new eyebrow hair in bare areas that might have been over-tweezed. And it’s super cheap! Yes, it really is a wonder oil!
