Socks to your liking

Beads, sequins, beads to your liking.

Do not throw your old socks! Create mitten gloves (fingerless gloves) ideal for these dates.

Check it out! All you need are your nail polishes and a sandwich bag!

 

Just start drawing on your sandwich bag with your nail polishes. use whatever tools you would typically use to achieve the details, like striper brushes, toothpicks etc.

I decided to start with simple hearts & just doodled more things on the sheet as I went.

eventually I started drawing sanrio characters. haha



A helpful tip that I learned was to do a topcoat of clear nail polish over & around your decal design.Let your decals dry for SUPER long, like a few hours.
After they're dry, it should be easy to just bend the sandwich bag and then peel the corner of topcoat with some tweezers! The topcoat acts as a border that you can start peeling from so that you don't ruin the actual design of your decal!

You now have decals!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE YOUR SATIN HEADBAND DIY:

• 1 Yard plus 3 or 4 inches of 2” satin ribbon


• 1 Elastic hair band or strong ¼ inch elastic


• Brooch


• Pins


• Sewing machine


• Scissors


• 2 Safety pins

Step 1
Cut your ribbon. You’ll need to cut 2 pieces about 13 inches each and use the remaining amount at least about 13 inches, to make a tube for the elastic.

Step 2
Take your piece that’s about 13 inches and fold it in half lengthwise. Using your sewing machine sew a seam, as close to the open edge as possible.

Step 3
Turn the piece of ribbon you just sewed right side out.

Step 4
Take your elastic and cut it to 10 inches. Be sure to measure your head, all measurements are for my head and you will want your satin headband to fit a bit snug.

Step 5
Place a safety pin on each end of your cut elastic band and feed it through your satin ribbon tube. Putting a safety pin on both ends will keep your elastic from pulling all the way through.

Step 6
Take your 2 pieces of ribbon that you cut 13 inches and place one on either side of your satin tube with the elastic inside. I made 2 small pleats on each side of the ribbons as I pinned them to the tube with the elastic, be sure to pull your elastic and leave about a half inch extra above where you will make your seam. You will do this for both sides.
Sew across your ends and trim any loose threads and your extra elastic.

Step 7
Turn your satin headband right side out. Take your brooch and measure to your center point and pin your brooch to your headband.

 

You’ll need:  A few yards of black satin ribbon (1/4″ wide) and 2 packages of crimp sleeve connectors (I used two different sizes)

Steps:

Start by tying a knot and sliding on three connectors.  Weave the end back through the first connector and pull tightly.

Continue this pattern by pushing one end through a connector on each side and then putting both ends through an additional connector.  When you reach your desired length, tie a knot and then weave your ribbon back through the last connector.  Slip on an additional connector, and weave your ribbon back through the adjacent connector.

Continue the pattern of adding on one connector and then weaving your thread through the adjacent connector.   Once you have two full rows of connectors, you will want to begin tapering it on each side by threading your ribbon through two connectors on each side before adding a third row (as demonstrated in the bottom left.)  Continue making rows.

Continue along, forming a crescent shape.

Continue going along.  After three full rows of connectors, I opted to start using a smaller size to add a little bit of interest.  This is not necessary but adds just a little extra texture.  Continue tapering and adding rows until you get to the center.

Once you reach the center, finish the necklace off by weaving your ribbon back up through the right side of the necklace.  Tie a knot at the end, and leave about 14″ of ribbon on each side… you are done!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE YOUR EMBELLISHED T SHIRT:

• 1 Crew neck T Shirt – one that fits a bit snug, you don’t want it too loose. Mine’s from Old Navy.


• 1 package plastic bone rings


• Paillettes – local bead stores usually carry them.


• Large black stones, round and oval


• Small clear rhinestones


• Small beads – I used “E” beads (6/0)


• Safety pins


• Jewel-it glue


• Pearl cotton


• Size B crochet hook


• Larger needle for sewing the pearl cotton


• Sewing needle


• White thread


• Black thread


• Scissors

Step 1
Take your plastic bone rings, your crochet hook and your pearl cotton. You will single crochet around each of your plastic bone rings. Do not tie in your ends.

Step 2
Once you have crocheted around all of your plastic bone rings, you will attach one paillette to each ring. You will do this with your larger needle and your tail ends of your pearl cotton (the ends that are hanging after your crochet).
Run your needle and pearl cotton through the hole in the paillette and around the crocheted plastic ring, do this about 3 times.
When you are finished run your needle back through your wrapping and cut your ends, leaving about a half inch tail. Glue these tails to the back of your ring, this will keep them from coming undone.

Step 3
Attach 5 safety pins to the top of your crocheted rings.

Step 4
Measure and mark your T Shirt to place your large stones. Mine were about 8 inches wide and each row was 2.5 inches apart. Be sure to put a piece of paper or cardboard inside your shirt before you start gluing.The Jewel-it glue will soak through your shirt.

Step 5
Place a dot of glue onto your T Shirt where you want your stones to be. Place the stones on top and press them into the glue. The glue will squish up around the stone, don’t worry it will dry clear, but it’s best to not over do it by using too much glue.

Step 6
While the glue is still wet place your crocheted ring around your round stones. The glue will help to hold them in place.

Step 7
Next you will glue the rhinestones to your shirt around your crocheted rings. I used a toothpick to put the glue on the shirt, otherwise it was hard to control and there was too much glue. According to the directions on the glue it says to wait 10 minutes after applying the glue before adding the stones if they are glass or crystal. So I put all the glue dots on the shirt before I added any rhinestones. As with the larger stones, press each rhinestone into the glue.
You will need to wait a few hours for your glue to dry before continuing. The glue is a bit runny and your stones will move easily.

Step 8
Open your safety pins and pin them to your shirt.

Step 9
Take your needle and white thread and sew your crocheted rings to your shirt. Your crocheted rings should be glued to your shirt from the excess glue from around your large stones, so you only need to do a few stitches around your rings just to tack them to your T Shirt.

Step 10
Using your needle and black thread sew your beads to your T Shirt in between your rhinestones.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE YOUR COFFEE SACK PURSE:

1. 1 Old book (I found one that the dog had chewed so I wouldn’t feel so bad cutting it.)


2. A burlap coffee sack or burlap fabric


3. Purse handles


4. Scissors


5. Hot glue gun


6. Fabric for covering the book – this will also be the inside of your bag.


7. Scrap yarn or a sharpie


8. Sewing Machine

Step 1
Cut the binding off your book. You may need to reinforce the bottom (what was the spine of your book) mine was a bit thin after cutting out the pages.

Step 2
Lay your book flat and measure your fabric for the cover. Leave an extra half inch all the way around.

Cut 4 small rectangles out of the cover fabric, you will use these to attach your handles.
Cut 1 piece of the Coffee sack the same size as your fabric or a little larger.
Cut 2 pieces of the coffee sack for the ends.

Step 3
Sew around the fabric for the cover of your book. Leave one side open to insert your book.

Step 4
Pin and sew the cover closed by hand.

Step 5
Take the 4 small rectangles fold them in half and sew them down one side. When you are finished turn them right side out.


Step 6
Put them through the rings on the bottom of the handles and sew them together.

Step 7
Using your hot glue gun, glue these to your covered book cover.

Step 8
Sew these by hand around the edges to secure.

Step 9
Sew the 3 pieces your coffee sack fabric together leave at least a half inch selvage on all seams. Leave seams on the outside, you will fray the edges later.

Step 10
Cut random pieces of your coffee sacks. I placed them on the bag and pined them together to decide my placement before sewing them together.

Step 11
Once you know how you want all your pieces laid out, sew them together.

Step 12
Pin these to the coffee sack fabric you sewed for the bag cover.

Step 13
Decorate with your yarn sewing the pieced fabric to the coffee sack cover. Once you are finished with your decorative sewing, glue all your knots to keep them from unraveling.

Step 14
Using your hot glue gun sew any loose areas of the pieced coffee sack to your base coffee sack.


Step 15
Fray all loose edges of your coffee sacks.

Step 16
Slide your covered book into your decorated coffee sack cover and glue along the edge.

Step 17
As extra security sew the coffee sack cover to your covered book.

 

You need:

1. Pair of jeans


2. Neck tie


3. Broach or fancy pin


4. Sewing machine

Step 1
Cut the legs off your jeans about and inch and a half below the back pockets.

Cut the crotch seam as well and cut off any extra heavy sewn seams.

Step 2
Turn your jeans inside out and pin the front and back, sew them and cut off any excess fabric.

Step 3
Pin the bottom of your jeans and sew the bottom all the way across.
Make sure to reinforce your seams at the ends. Since you will be using this as a bag you want your seams to hold.

Step 4
Turn your jeans, now your bag, right side out.

Step 5
Take your neck tie and feed it through the side and front belt loops on both sides.

Step 6
Overlap your ends and pin with your broach.

 

You will need
• black shoes with stack heels
• image of your choice
• masking tape
• gold enamel paint
• paintbrush and sponge brush
• thinners
• scissors and pencil
• modge podge
• 2 buttons
• hot glue gun
• varnish

To make
1 Stick masking tape onto the parts of the shoe that you want to protect against glue and paint. Paint the sole of the shoe with gold enamel paint. Leave to dry completely then apply another layer of gold paint. Clean your brush with thinners.

2 Once the paint is dry you can start with the decoupage. Trace the shape of the shoe’s heel onto the back of your print and cut out. Use this as a template to cut out a second piece of paper.

3 Apply a thin layer of modge podge over the heel of the shoe and place one of the pieces of paper in position. Paint more modge podge over the top and rub with your fingers and the foam brush to get rid of any folds and bubbles. Apply a few more layers of modge podge in a criss-cross pattern over the print, allowing each layer to dry before applying the next one.

4 Repeat for the other shoe. Seal the decoupage with a layer of suitable varnish, to protect the print. Remove the masking tape and finish off by gluing a colourful button with hot glue to the side of each shoe.

Materials:

• Pliers


• Wire cutters


• Plain silver headband


• 24 gauge beading wire


• 12 gauge aluminum wire


• Rhinestones


• Permanent marker (not shown)


• Glue gun (not shown)

Steps:

1. Cut two pieces of 12 gauge wire for the ears


2. Bend these pieces to your desired cat ear shape


3. Mark where you want them to go on the headband


4. Bend the ends into loops and cut the excess off


5. Take the 24 gauge wire and wrap it around the ear frame pieces to secure it to the headband, use pliers to help you.


6. Disassemble your rhinestone chain (if you have singular rhinestones, skip this step)


7. Layout where you want the rhinestones


8. Take your glue gun and glue the rhinestones on. It's not an ideal solution, but hey, if you're handy with a soldering iron, go ahead and do that, it'll be more secure.


9. Wear them out, you're DONE!

How To Style :

Step 1 : This style works on a variety of textures, however, and can look great on straight, wavy, dirty or clean hair.

Step 2 - 3 and 4 : Impart your desired texture. To achieve a bouncier, looser feel, curl your hair with a 1 inch iron in fairly large sections.

Step 5 : Create desired base at scalp. A bit of backcombing sometimes makes the faux bob a bit more believable.

Step 6 : Gather the hair gently into the ponytail, you don’t need to really brush the hair back or smooth it at all, just secure it together.

Step 7 - 8 : Tuck and secure the ponytail. I rolled the ponytail underneath Sarah’s hair and pinned it to her scalp. The ponytail makes pinning that amount of hair much simpler. I used 3-4 bobby pins during this step.

Step 9 : Secure any loose bits.

Step 10 : Adjust the form. I used an old fashioned lift, which can be purchased at Sally Beauty Supply for under $1. In the photo, I’m lifting up the backcombing and creating our desired bob-like full shape.

Step 11 - 12 : Add some Hairspray and admire.

Trim edges of yardage to be straight. Set your sewing machine to the widest zig zag stitch & the shortest length – a satin stitch. Run the edge of your fabric through the machine. Trim threads.

Cut off selvege. With your seam ripper collect 2-4 of the threads going the width of the fabric.



Pull at a 45º angle. The fabric will want to gather, then it will loosen from the edges. Repeat until you have about 2-3 inches of fringe

Tie a knot for every 1/2 inch of fringe to keep the edges from fraying more.Alternatively, you could do a simple straight stitch just above the fringe & let the fringe be unruly.

I love all of those projects with pillow cases. And, they all look so easy. Well, I don't know about those, but this  one (mine) was so simple.

One tricky thing was applying that elastic.

And I made mine nightdress out of pillow case :)

Except that elastic, I didn't sew anything. All I did is making holes for head and arms.

1. pick 3 colors

2. paint nails a base color

3.pour 1 drop of polish on a paper plate.

4. use toothpicks or skewers to draw lines across your nail with your first color (red).

5. repeat steps 3 and 4 with the 2nd stripe color (blue).

Seal with a clear coat and Voilà. Stripey Nails!

This project is super simple. All you need to do is punch holes around the top of your shoes and then screw in the studs. I used 7 studs on each shoe.
