If you prefer a bubbling cauldron on your buffet table, use dry ice in old urns and be sure to wear gloves when handling. Use old candelabras with candles throughout your home, and dim the lights while you play sinister howls and screams in your Halloween get-together.

Use cotton or playful spider webs found at your local party store and stretch it over your furniture, picture frames, doorways, and anywhere throughout your interiors for an old, and abandoned haunted house interior!

On the night of October 31, Americans, and for some time other peoples of the world, celebrate Halloween, “Feast of All Saints”. Halloween is a celebration of Celtic origin which has spread in the nineteenth century Irish immigrants through the United States of America. The first state where Halloween was celebrated was Minnesota in 1921, followed closely by cities New York and Los Angeles in 1923 and 1925.

Supplies

• vegetable shortening


• black gel food color


• silver luster dust


• vodka (or any clear extract)


• 2 travel size plastic spray bottles


• bat and moon shapes printed on card stock or heavy paper


• scissors


• parchment paper or a cardboard box larger than your cake


• Any size cake covered with yellow fondant.  Here I used 6” and 8” rounds and yellow Satin Ice right out of the bucket.

We had our playgroup Halloween party on Saturday. One of the members organised it at their home, well the park in front of their house and talked some of the neighbours into doing the treat and treat bit for the kids. It was great fun, sadly I didn't get many pictures since the battery ran out on my camera. Ebi-kun loved it and wanted to do it all again the next day.

When we have playgroup events, it is usually a potluck party which is great because we get such a mixture of foods. I did forewarn everyone that I would be taking fingers and eyeballs but so many people told me that they thought I was joking - as if I would joke about such a thing ! So, just in case your supermarket is all out of fingers, here is a quick tutorial or is it a recipe? to make your own.

You will need:

weiner sausages, I like the mini ones, they look more like tender kids fingers rather than grizzly adult ones.

More we’re getting closer to Halloween, I feel that weird inner emotion (more specifically it’s like a ball of fur in my upper stomach) I felt whenever there was something big coming up. Like exams, special events, holidays… (that and getting one step closer to my due date which makes me a world more emotional than d’habitude)

 

You need:

* Sharpie or marker in the same color as your paint
* Clean empty tin cans {I like to use the big coffee cans, any size will work}
* Hammer and large nail or awl
* Paint
* Paint brush
* Candles

 

Ingredients
2 packs (3 oz) Raspberry jello
1 pkg unflavored gelatin (for extra firmness)
3/4 cup whipping cream
3 cups boiling water
15 drops green food coloring
100 flexible straws (or enough to fill your container)
Tall container (1 quart or 1 liter carton of milk)



Directions
1) Combine gelatin in bowl and add boiling water.

2) Let it cool to lukewarm and then add the whipping cream and 15 drops green food coloring.

3) Gather your straws (don't forget to flex them out) and put them in the container. It's important that the straws have a tight fit so the jello stays in the straws. For this reason, a 1 liter carton may be better; you will probably get longer worms since there is a tighter fit. If you have a bigger container, a rubber band around the straws is helpful. Or you could just add more straws to fill the container.

4) Add the gelatin mixture to the straw-filled container and let it set until firm.

5) There are multiple ways you can remove the worms from the straws. You can roll a rolling pin over the straws and squeeze them out or you can hold the straws over warm water. The worms will slip right out.

And voila! Jello worms are served.

Ingredients

• 4 piece(s) (3 1/2 inches long each) black licorice lace


• 1 tablespoon(s) chocolate chips, melted in microwave


• 1 chocolate-covered marshmallow cookie


• 2 chocolate chips, for decorating

Directions

1. Bend black licorice lace into semicircles. Spread some chocolate from melted chocolate chips on bottom of chocolate-covered marshmallow cookie.


2. Press licorice into chocolate for 8 spider legs. Dip 2 chocolate chips in melted chocolate; attach for eyes. Refrigerate 10 minutes.

So, I don’t usually decorate for Halloween, as in the creepy coffins and skeletons kind of way. But on the Good Report last week (a really cool photography and family life blog that I love) I saw that Leslie felt the same way and so she made these. Perfect! And she got the idea from Country Living. And since I loved them so much, I’m sharing the steps with you!

You will need:

• Styrofoam balls (8", 6", 4")


• Black craft paint


• Small paint brush


• Cheese cloth (I used about 2 yds per ghost, in 1 yard squares, for a total of 6 yds)


• Eye screws (3)


• E6000, wood or other similar glue

Pretty cute huh?  I love my new hanging ghosts!  And I am so happy to finally have some more cute outdoor Halloween decor!

This costume will suit your would-be rampaging monster from his big jug-head to his pretend-giant toes!

The plan is to view through the slit above the eyes and just below the belt. I have not used it yet for a long walk outdoor so I don't really know if the view is sufficient. There will be a 1~2 sec lag if I view in a screen via Gopro.. that would not be good..
